The Weasel Watching Weekly Extravaganza

Watcher of Weasels has the Council's posts and voting up. As always, the whole list is well worth reading.

SC&A won the non-Council category with Lessons From A Decent Man. I would also like to recommend the Riviera Beach story on eminent domain. The Sundries Shack came in second in the Council category for On Harriet, Hurt and a Huffy.

Dymphna of Gates of Vienna definitely deserved to win the Council category with this post on Saudi women.

Usually on Fridays I post a few humor links. This week it is the NY Times which qualifies. I laugh out loud every time I read this attempt to convey that the mean ol' nasty Rethuglicans are abusing the Democrats in Maryland just because of some petty legal matter. I cracked up at the first line and didn't stop laughing until the second to last paragraph:
National Republicans, who face an uphill battle in their efforts to capture the open United States Senate seat in heavily Democratic Maryland next year, are trying to exploit potential legal problems that Democrats are now suddenly facing in that race.
"Potential" legal problems? Bwahahahahahahaaa. I wrote about the facts and gave the cites here. But it gets better. How's this for a brave attempt at spin?
The two sides have been battling since late last month, when it was disclosed that the United States attorney's office for the District of Columbia and the F.B.I. were investigating the possibility that Mr. Steele's credit report was obtained illegally by the two Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee staff members.
There isn't any "possibility" about it, and that comes straight from the Dems themselves:
"While the DSCC did not authorize the employees to access Mr. Steele's credit report, we regret that this incident occurred and apologize to Mr. Steele," DSCC spokesman Phil Singer told 11 News.
The Old Gray Lady is now The Spinster Of Record.

I wish the Council would establish a "Spin, Span, Spun" category for the MSM's best attempt at political spin cloaked as objective reporting of the week. It would make for fascinating reading.

Comments:
The 'in your face' slam of the NYT version of the news is priceless!

I like that idea of a 'spin' award.

Maybe if the weasels give it a pass, we ought to give it a try.

Of course, there would need to be a BBC specific award- you know, as WHICH story was the most spun.

Gindy, can you imagine a similar NY Times story written about the Democrats talking about the charges against Delay? I can't. That's what started me laughing.

SC&A, I bet we could get Gindy and maybe Beth to sign on for that one! It really should be done.
