Arabic Allergies

Sigmund, Carl and Alfred calls this syndrome the "Arab Allergy To Reality". Well, Dr. Sanity was completely unable to resist the lure of this divinely absurd syndrome. You must click the LINK to "Scientific Progress Goes Boink".

Apparently Neil Armstrong proved that the Kaaba is sort of an orgone box emitting life-extending short wave radiation. Really. Seriously. This information is brought to you courtesy of the Egyptian National Research Center, and in solidarity with the interviewer of Dr. Abd Al-Baset Al-Sayyed, I believe we can all say solemnly "My God!", especially when reading about Neil Armstrong's perception of the earth, a dark ball hung in space:
[Neil] Armstrong. Armstrong was basically trying to say: Allah is the one who hung it. They discovered that Earth emits radiation, and they wrote about this on the web. They left the item there for 21 days, and then they made it disappear.
That's the article on the web that disappeared, not the Earth. The Earth is still hanging around. One of the most exciting implications of all this to me is that Al Gore invented the internet a whole lot earlier than I had been led to believe. Neil Armstrong commanded Gemini 8 in 1966 and walked on the moon in 1969, so the web was apparently invented before the first commonly available personal computers. Now that's innovation.

And all of this breaking news is fact, scientific fact. We know because the Egyptian National Research Center has proved it.

Update: The above should give you some understanding of this Egyptian's reason for calling for a reformation of society and government in Egypt:
Question:"You say that the regime in Egypt is corrupt, but Prime Minister Sharon and others have [also] become involved in corruption. Is there any difference, then?"

Hassanein: "I don't defend Sharon. He is a military [ruler] who benefits from the perpetuation of tension and war. I know that he and his son are corrupt, but I cry over my people's situation in Egypt. I see the Europeans who came to Israel with a culture of freedom, and we can learn from them by becoming closer to them. There is nothing to be gained from violence and fighting. We are a nation that has never produced a tractor or a plow, so how can we produce weapons? I want us to try [the way] of love and peace, as Gandhi did…"
It is worth reading the interview with this man anyway. He is an opponent of Mubarak, and wants to institute a real democratic system in Egypt and make peace with Israel. You can see he what is facing in the above article. How can a society addicted to an active denial of reality progress?

Comments:
You know, the appropriate music for this piece would be the theme from the 'Twilight Zone.'

What is really amazing is that they have no shame- none whatsoever. One would think otherwise, but noooooo...

SC&A,

Twilight Zone music would work - I kept having flashbacks of Chekov on the original Enterprise maintaining that the Russians invented everything. Or maybe they live in a parallel universe! I get the impression that if you look in a microscope at the Egyptian National Research Center you see a little Koran staring back at you.

We could end up in this state too if we're not careful. Once being "appropriate" becomes more important than the facts it's a rapid sled ride downhill for any society.
