I really didn't know these things about Senator Byrd, and I have to admit that I would have a hard time voting for him if it ever came up because of them. TS quotes WAPO:

This is more than one mistake. You don't found the organization and then claim youthful ignorance.I believe that people can and do change, and I believe in redemption.
