Up Yours

You (The organisation calls itself the Secret Organisation Group of al-Qaeda [literally the base] of Jihad Organisation in Europe):
Nation of Islam and Arab nation: Rejoice for it is time to take revenge against the British Zionist Crusader government in retaliation for the massacres Britain is committing in Iraq and Afghanistan. The heroic mujahideen have carried out a blessed raid in London. Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters.
Have about as much chance of succeeding in making the people of any democracy burn with fear as you do of telling the truth:
The economic impact and disruption of the explosions in London is likely to be minimal and brief, analysts said....
We aren't panicked and we will do our work:
At the East India Arms, a small pub on Fenchurch Street, bankers quietly sipped their pints of Young's bitter while listening to the news and watching the pictures of how their city has been changed. Those in the pub were recounting tales of the morning's events, some of them speculative, much of it rumour. When the prime minister's statement came up on the news the pub almost immediately fell silent.

However, the strange thing is that despite this terrible attack, there really is an air of people just trying to get on with things. As soon as the prime minister stopped talking, the pub erupted in conversation with all the usual talking points - contracts, deadlines and projects.

Comments:
This isn't a war waged againsts governments or even policy. This is a war waged against us- our values, beliefs and principles.

Do they really think we will abandon that for the terror and hatred they have to offer?

I suppose so, but they could not be more wrong.

I wish I could remember who said it, and I wish I could remember the exact words he used but it was something along the lines of..

you made a mistake when you attacked us because you didn't know what we are capable of. I do.

To be honest my attitudes hardened a while ago when it became clear that the bombers in Iraq were happy to kill civilians. These people are scum. Some of them may be cultists, but they are still scum.

And it made me support Bush's policies even more, because it made it clear that we are fighting mad dogs. They may cloak themselves in Islamist words, but they are mad dogs.

my attitudes hardened quite noticeably around 9:40 in the evening on jun 25 1996 when they tried to kill me.

somehow that makes it sort of personal you know?

working in an industry that happens to be one of the preferred targets doesn't help either.

I certainly see your point. I was permanently out to lunch back then, but I do see how your opinions on the subject could have been set in stone.
