Iran's Latest Threat - Use Israel As Hostage?

It's hard to believe, but according to Reuters:

Iran threatened on Tuesday to attack Israel in response to any "evil" act by the United States and said it had enriched uranium to a level close to the maximum compatible with civilian use in power stations.
The defiant statements were issued shortly before world powers met in Paris late on Tuesday to plan their next moves after Tehran rejected a U.N. call to halt uranium enrichment.
As a wild guess, I'd say that this indicates that Iran does not fear the UN as a body. Also:

It has used a test cascade of 164 centrifuges to enrich uranium so far and is building two similar cascades. It says it will start installing 3,000 centrifuges later this year -- which could yield enough material for one bomb within a year.

Why, if what they already have is sufficient to the purpose of making fuel for nuclear power plants? They appear to be stirring things up on purpose. One thing is certain - they are making money off this campaign.

A more specific statement about Israel:

"We have announced that wherever America does something evil, the first place that we target will be Israel," ISNA quoted a senior Revolutionary Guards commander, Rear Admiral Mohammad-Ebrahim Dehqani, as saying on Tuesday.

I'm going to call up Chief No-Nag and tell him that whenever someone gives me a hassle at work I'm going to go home and throw things at him. I don't think he'll be impressed. I also don't think he'll be frightened.

Comments:
How about, "If Hizbollah attacks Israel, we will attack Iran."

Just at thought.

In any event, the stupidity is stunning. Israel has the capacity to turn Tehran into a glass paking lot.

Almadehijad really is psychotic

It's not JUST him.

He does seem to be crazy a la Hitler and Mussolini, though. I have to dig up some entries from Ciano's diary. Mussolini was making military threats at the same time that he was obsessed with the appearance on parade of the Italian military, even after having been told that the military had much less than the resources it officially had. Shadow brigades, less than one third of the planes, etc.

Ciano could not understand why Mussolini did not respond to the people who were trying to tip him off about the military's weakness. He thought Mussolini was afraid to do it.

But I think Mussolini was crazy like a fox. He and Hitler were engaged in a giant bluff, and those inflated official military figures were not going to be publicly questioned. I think Mussolini thought Hitler would get away with it.

The same type of group wishful thinking could be going on here.

No, the Ayatollahs of Iran and their spokeshole "President" have this idea that if they bring about the End of the World (Literally!), the Mahdi will reappear from the bottom of a well in Iran and bring about Islamic Paradise in the surviving 1/3 of the world.

It's an Islamic version of Left Behind: Let's Do It. God's Will, you know.

There is quite an irony in the fact that some humans who talk so much about God's will always seem to think that they have to personally execute God's will? Like the all-powerful needs help?

But that isn't just confined to Muslims. It seems to be a human failure. Even the wacky environmentalists seem to fall into the same pattern.
