North Korea

SC&A on truth:
Those who insist the UN can handle the North Korean crisis and point to member nations ’solidarity’ on the matter are nothing but delusional. The UN can’t find a way to deal with the situation in Darfur, a genocide perpetrated by criminals on horseback, supported and backed by a dysfunctional regime. Is there anyone that really believes the UN can effectively handle the North Korean nuclear crisis?
And it's sort of like beating up starving dogs, isn't it? The Kag Report continues to be "fake but accurate".

Iowahawk sums up the incentive system:
In the back yard of scientific researchings behind the Great Storage Shed of the People, Iowahawk scientists successfully conducted above-ground nuclear missile test explosions under secure and many malt liquor conditions on early hours of October 10, 2006...
Link to this post now, or be dealt a thousandtime blow of fresh nuclear Missouri M-80 retaliation! All imperialist stooge traitors of TypePad and Blogger and WordPress must now bow down before the greatness of Iowahawk and his merciless arsenal of peaceful stabilty rockets.
So it seems clear to me that anything the UN can come up with is going to be worse than useless. We can't stop loony countries (not to be confused with the rational country of the loonie currency, Canada) from developing nukes. The only thing we can do is avoid presenting them with incentives for doing so.

Thus, we should kindly and firmly assure NK and Iran that if they ever try to use nukes for aggression, they are toast, and leave it at that. No incentives, no fancy programs, no assurances of bonuses if they halt, or pause, or promise not to behave better. Cut off all aid programs and promise them destruction if they attempt to attack others. That's the only meaningful policy left.

It's the one policy that the UN will not deliver; the UN seems to be in love with dictators. This is because the UN, as a body, thinks diplomacy is about not offending people, and dictators are famously easy to offend.

Comments:
Well the U.N. has devolved into an organization that doesn't even believe in the difference between right and wrong. I'm amazed at how little people know about North Korea, and how little about it gets reported.

I think I'm just going to go back to sleep, wake me when it's over m'kay?

Afternoon, Mama. The good news is that Japan is gearing up. They're going to be the bad guys on this one.

Tommy, given your profession I hope you don't develop too much dedication to sleeping on the job.

CF, can you blame them? I doubt we would be relaxed if Cuba was setting off nuclear blasts. It seems to me that there was quite a showdown when the Soviets tried making Cuba a nuclear parking lot. I say we support Japan in its efforts. But I don't think the UN is going to be an aid. I think it will be an obstruction.

Hi Mama; As usual, we are in agreement. I'm very much in favor of Japan changing it's constitution to allow it to defend itself. It's great another healthy nation is in a position to stand up and handle the aggressor. Seems as if this is a situation the U.S. can let someone else take the lead. Moral support, of course, but their tax dollars.

The U.N.?

Couldn't find it's Ass with both hands.
