Another Runaround Day

I won't be posting until later.

Call your Congress Critters and insist on an equity stake in return for the purchased assets or extension of capital. Seriously, you do not want the government to just start handing around your money with no strings attached.

Global fundamentals are awful, with coordinated slides in basic economic stats in the big Asian countries, Europe and NA. Mixed in South America. So an injection of working capital is in the cards, but not FREE capital.

And would someone, anyone with a brain, gently take our two presidential candidates aside and explain to them that with a global recession assured, and major government interventions in many countries to prevent a global depression in the works, carbon cap and trade is suicidal? Please? Anyone?

Comments:
I'm glad you keep hammering on the carbon cap-and-trade idea. The last thing we need is for bad economics to join forces with bad science. Though the worst culprit is probably the bad politics.

Bad economics, politics and science is a nasty brew.

But the word "bad" simply does not cover carbon cap and trade policies at this time. I think "suicidal ideation" is more accurate.

MoM, it would be nice if you could be in touch with the White House. Both parties are scaring us to pieces here!!!! What kind of advise are they getting??? We are shaking our heads.

I was at a street fair this weekend where the Sierra Club had a NO COAL booth, … so I ambled over with cold beer in hand and asked the very young man why no coal? He immediately starts to earnestly recite the CO2 causes global warming story. At his first break in the narrative, I asked him if he really believed carbon dioxide trapped heat. Yes, he really truly did.

I then pointed to my beverage and asked how cold beer was possible if CO2 trapped heat? Needless to say he became flummoxed when pushed off script, asserting that I must know nothing of physics. When I asked him to explain the mechanism of how this “heat” was “trapped” he backed down realizing there was no way to convert me. Pointing to his beer, this was a street festival after all, I asked him to reflect on the reality of cold beer with every refreshing sip and encouraged him to never stop learning.
