Adolf Merckle Dies By Train
According to Bloomberg, which follows Die Welt. Die Welt reports possible suicide, which would not be incredible to anyone following the rather incredible Merckle saga.
Update: According to Faz, the family confirmed suicide, and media is reporting that a suicide letter was found. Less detail but in English at Bloomberg. Stock prices of the some of the companies have been hit. I figured that the VW speculation was caused by an overload of debt in the circumstances. These are good businesses, but they had expanded quickly and had substantial debt coming into the current downturn. It's hard to believe that a man who had lived through such turmoil would have done this, but he was probably extremely distraught.
Note: The Chief gave me his very potent virus, so blogging will be light today.
