In Love With This Blog

Bad Data, Bad! It's barely started, and already I'm in love with it. Mission Statement. Got it from Assistant Village Idiot, another great blog.

Comments:
MOM,

"Numbers never lie."

The average employment report over the last decade has some pretty low lyin' numbers in it.

My bad. I seem to be using the wrong definition of lie, lol. Sigh.

In all seriousness, that's a good start to any mission statement.

Oh hey, that's me!

Thanks!

And I do get quite a kick out of the Assistant Village Idiot's blog. Kind of him to point to me.

Anything I can do to keep the love coming, let me know...obviously since I just started I'm always looking for topics!

I've found when I crunch numbers management will just ignore them if they tell them something they might be uncomfortable with.

I mostly crunch numbers in an attempt to avoid working on stupid stuff. Once in a while, if I can attach BIG dollar amounts to my "work" estimates I can get management to actually talk to their workers instead of actively avoid talking to their people.

I wind up not getting an expensive project, but I feel satisfied not having spent any more time on a project that doesn't need doing. But 98% of people are motivated by a combination of greed, ego, an fear. If you took all the unnecessary work out of the economy, the unemployment rate would probably be over 50%. Idle hands are the devil's workshop, so maybe unnecessary work isn't all bad.
