Celebrating the Fourth By Baking Cakes

I am disgusted by some of the choices I face. Like most people, I want to get through life by neither oppressing or being oppressed, and when the government tries to force me into either category I get disgusted, angry and thoughtful. This, I say to myself, must be rebuked.

So this morning I donated to the latest hapless victims of a government gone insane. This lady got her business shut down and now is being fined $135,000 for refusing to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.

Me - depending on the exact circs, I'd probably bake the cake. But I certainly don't agree with trying to force other persons to bake the cake.

So let the fireworks begin.

Comments:
I call the "government gone insane" the deep state. The leftist deep state to be precise. It has now infected the supreme court.

It's the whole "Burn them! Burn the witches!" mentality. Thing is, I hear that sort of thing from actual witches, of the Wiccan flavor. It never occurs to them that those kinds of government power could be turned around to destroy them.

The whole thing is an obscene overreach by an out of control government. The baker was perfectly happy to serve the couple if they walked into his shop. But, by requesting a wedding cake, a special order, the lesbian couple was asking the baker to participate in the ceremony. This lesbian couple had plenty of bakers will to provide the service they requested. This couple was not harmed in any way. They were just searching around for someone to sue. The gag order imposed by the judge was even more outrageous.

I argued long and loud for gay marriage. Now I'm seeing people discussing the legal strategies they're going to use to ram legalized polygamy through the courts. Given the logic of the recent Supreme Court decision, I have no reason to doubt that they'll win.

I have daughters. Imagine my chagrin.

Neil - I did think the SC decision legalized polygamy and incestuous marriage. There were other ways they could have done it.

I noticed on the comments with the donations that there were not a few gay marriage supporters coughing up.

Neil...but think of the money you can save on wedding expenses if all the daughters marry the same guy!

David, that was not funny. Really. I winced.
